The White House is removing a federal regulation that subjects its Office of Administration to the Freedom of Information Act, making official a policy under Presidents Bush and Obama to reject requests for records to that office.

The White House said the cleanup of FOIA regulations is consistent with court rulings that hold that the office is not subject to the transparency law. The office handles, among other things, White House record-keeping duties like the archiving of e-mails.

Weddings meticulously planned for months can be ruined by terrible weather – so this company’s offer to control the conditions on the big day sounds incredibly enticing.

There’s a catch though. Playing God with the weather will cost you £100,000.

For some people that will no doubt seem like a small price to pay to ensure they have a perfectly dry union.

Luxury travel company Oliver’s Travels said it can ‘100% guarantee fair weather and clear skies’ for your wedding day using a ‘crack-team of cloud bursters’.

Oliver’s Travels say that the squad, made up of skilled meteorologists and pilots, fly their plane above the clouds and sprinkle them with silver iodide particles. The vapour in the clouds wraps itself around the iodide particles, condensing into water which then falls as rain.

The process begins up to a week before the wedding to ensure the skies are cloud-free for the big day.

At first blush it sounds like an open-and-shut school disciplinary matter in a zero-tolerance age:

Some schoolchildren claim another student bragged about having marijuana. They inform school administrators. An assistant principal finds a leaf and a lighter in the boy’s knapsack. The student is suspended for a year. A sheriff’s deputy files marijuana possession charges in juvenile court

All of the above and more happened last September to the 11-year-old son of Bedford County residents Bruce and Linda Bays. He was a sixth-grader in the gifted-and-talented program at Bedford Middle School.

There was only one problem: Months after the fact, the couple learned the substance wasn’t marijuana. A prosecutor dropped the juvenile court charge because the leaf had field-tested negative three times.

The FCC released the 400-page document on Thursday, two weeks after it passed new regulations, which many fear will turn the internet into a public commodity and thereby stifle innovation.

“Leveling the playing field” in that way has been a clear goal of Free Press, a group dedicated to net neutrality which was founded in 2003.

As Phil Kerpen, president of the free-market group American Commitment, first noted, Free Press is mentioned repeatedly in the FCC document. Most of the references are found in footnotes which cite comments by Free Press activists supporting more internet regulation.

The term “Free Press” is mentioned 62 times in the regulations. Some are redundant mentions referring to the same Free Press activists’ comments in favor of more oversight. In total, the FCC cited Free Press’ pro-net neutrality arguments 46 times.

The current case, known as Gill et al. v. Department of Justice et al (Gill v. DOJ), seeks to halt the standards that define the entire Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) program. If Gill is successful, it could effectively stop it.

The case involves five Americans—“two photographers, one white man who is a devout Muslim, and two men of Middle Eastern and South Asian descent”—according to the original July 2014 complaint. Among others, lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union brought the case.

Lead plaintiff Wiley Gill is a white man who converted to Islam as a student at California State University, Chico, and he drew the attention of the Chico Police Department in May 2012. (Chico is about 180 miles due north of San Francisco.) According to the SAR about Gill, the officer entered Gill’s residence in response to an apparent domestic violence incident (Gill was home alone). The officer then saw on a webpage “titled something similar to ‘Games that fly under the radar’” on Gill’s computer.

“Coupled with the fact he is unemployed, appears to shun law enforcement contact, has potential access to flight simulators via the Internet which he tried to minimize is worthy of note,” the SAR, entitled “Suspicious Male Subject in Possession of Flight Simulator Game,” concludes.

Gill did nothing more than “look Muslim” and play videogames. Other plaintiffs did little more than commit photography.

Internationally-renowned photographer (and former Sara Lee/Levi’s executive), James Prigoff, became the subject of an SAR for trying to take photographs of something that has been previously photographed hundreds of times without incident:

The “Rainbow Swash” painting that adorns a Boston oil refinery’s storage tank. Prigoff was approached by the company’s security guards and told he couldn’t photograph the oft-photographed storage tank. Despite leaving and providing no contact information, Prigoff was visited by a member of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force shortly after returning to his home in Sacramento.

Plaintiff Aaron Conklin, a graphic design student, was approached by sheriff’s deputies while photographing a refinery. He was told he would be put on a “NSA watchlist.”

Fault lines dating back hundreds of millions of years in Oklahoma that have been recently reactivated could lead to a devastating quake in the state where many structures were not built to withstand major seismic activity, a report said.

The state, which has seen several hundred seismic events over the past five years, has “a high degree of potential earthquake hazards,” according to the study accepted for publication this month whose authors include researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

“The majority of the recent earthquakes in central Oklahoma define reactivated ancient faults at shallow depths in the crust” of less than 3.7 miles (6 km), said the report for the American Geophysical Union.

The report did not look at whether the reactivation of the faults was linked to the energy extraction technique known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.

SHOW NOTES:

Before beginning, I might offend…

The world right now is going downhill, fast…

There are barrels of gunpowder adn we’re just waiting for the match to be lit…

wars, horrific psychopaths running rampant, slavery still existing, starvation when there is no need for it…

Propaganda left and right…

a lot of it is due to religion…

so everyone seems to be looking for a savior.

jesus, aliens, heck even a new government put into place…

Even Obama was a savior to a lot of people, and look at what has happened becuase of that…

Rights further taken away, forced into paying for programs that make no sense, losing the internet piece by piece, and now he’s loking to federalize all police forces in the US…

Everyone is looking to the future, waiting for the moment to come wthen they can say, “that’s it.  It’s over.  We can relax”

The problem with that is…

We aren’t given the promise of another moment…

we’re so fragile…

No one is coming to save us, and, even if they are, it’s important to DO SOMETHING.  Right here, right now…

here’s something that i see as being a problem for those that claim they are christian…

Many of them (not all) are pushing forward agendas to PUSH US TO THE BRINK…

They see in the bible the different “signs” of Christ’s coming, and they, through actively participating in the agendas driving us to the edge or inaction due to the psychological need for the savior to come, are creating hell on earth for all of us.

and of course, there are many out there that will use that as an excuse to hate, to cause divisions, to fight against them, and that leads us even DEEPER into trouble.

savior complex…

Tossed on top of all of these things is the issue of people with savior complexes.

EVERYONE thinks that they know the answers, and are adamant about it.

Some will even be violently adamant about it…

You see this with the government, don’t you?

There is a serious savior mentality going on with the gov’t.

And what are they doing with it?

CPS gets called out and children taken away from parents, good parents, only to be put into homes that they are abused in, killed in, sold out of into slavery.

Vaccines pushed on us left and right and now even going to be made mandatory, if they have anything to say about it.

Zero tolerance policies being pushed out with the kids, good kids, geting caught in them and kicked out, tossed away, their lives ruined becasue of stupid saviors in the administration.

Why is it that the masses cry out for saviors, when each and every one of them turns out to be as bad as the problems are?

Even Christ, if you read some of the things contained in the bible, can be perceived that way, right?

“Come to me, or get sent to hell,” are the words the hyper-Christians try to put into his mouth.

And there is most certainly evidence to show that that is the attitude in the bible.

Almost everyone has the savior mindset in one way or the other…

Nosiness and busybodies all stem from that type of attitude.   What you say goes, and you are there to “help people” by forcing them to conform to you idea of what is “right”

Classic example is the native americans.  They were “savages” and had to have the savage beaten out of them.

What’s the old adage?  The road to hell is paved with the best of intentions.
