A bit of news about Late Night In The Midlands….

Muslim Leader : Merry Christmas is Murder

Today’s show will touch on a couple of topics.
The first one in mind is a Muslim leader saying that telling someone merry Christmas is the same as murder.
In fact, he said, saying Merry Christmas “is worse than fornication and drinking alcohol and killing someone, because you are approving of the biggest crime ever committed by the children of Adam’s sin.”
Since it is getting close to Christmas, I thought I would bring this one forward to you.
The “Christmas” issue is one that I feel is always getting blown out of proportion.
Of course, in America, we are considered a “religious” country.  That is, of course, far from the actual truth of things, but I digress.
“Christmas under attack”.  That is something we hear year after year.
The thing that gets me is, no one is stopping you from celebrating Christmas the way you want to celebrate it.  But not everyone celebrates it, or celebrates it the same way.
What is the problem with having the celebration at home or at gatherings with those you know and love?
Why does it always have to be in the faces of everyone around you, no matter what their thoughts or opinions are?
You don’t hear Jewish people screaming an hollering about Hanukkah being ignored or sidelined, do you?  And Jewish people can definitely let you know how they feel about things.

Military Must Scrub Social Media of Offensive Things

Next up:  The Department of Homeland Security and FBI have come out saying that people should scrub their social media accounts for anything that might be considered offensive or inflammatory against ISIS, ISIL, ISON, IS, or whatever the hell they want to be called nowadays.
What utter claptrap.
Officials strongly urged those who serve in uniform to scrub their social media accounts of anything that might bring unwanted attention from “violent extremists” or would help the extremists learn individual service members’ identities.
Now, granted, this is regarding the military members in specific, but this just opens up a whole can of worms.
Here’s why.
First of all, of course, everyone is screaming first amendment about it all.
I don’t disagree with that sentiment.  But there is even more to it.
We have a real serious problem when we are bowing our heads to political correctness, in fear of offending people or making them angry.
As you can probably tell, I have no issues with making people angry at me.  If you disagree with me and you can’t be adult enough to actually talk to me about it, and instead throw a temper tantrum and get all hissy over it, then you’re not worth my time debating with.
In fact, that’s not even debating.  That is taking the ball and going home.  Even if it is not your ball.
If you don’t like me for who and what I am, screw you.  There are 7 billion other people int he world that just might, and you’re not worth my time wasting on.
So you can take me or leave me as I am.  I bite no bonnes about myself or my opions on matters.
But it goes beyond even that.  You are telling MILITARY members to act in fear.
Military.  In fear.
When your military is afraid of something, you have a problem that is much bigger than you realize.
So, the FBI and homeland security are fearful about reprisals against things that people say, and Obama opens the doors to let in even more people.
You don’t think that is a problem?
If things are bad enough that we have to ask military members or anyone else to scrub their social media against anything that could be considered offensive to a religion, we need to close the borders completely, hunt down every single person that could be considered dangerous in that way, and hope that we got em all.
Seriously folks.  “Oh we have to not offend anyone! Let’s open the borders even further! Danger danger!”
You don’t see the problem in that>  It makes me shake my head in wonder at it all.
