People have been using their First Amendment Rights to free speech to try to get rid of the Second Amendment.

They do this without really realizing that, if the Second Amendment is removed, the First Amendment will quickly follow.

We discuss these things, including a specific case of ridiculousness, in this episode.

The following are the show notes used in the recording of this episode.  They are here for your reference and convenience.

The First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

The first amendment is a big one. It gives us the right to speak our minds, speak our hearts, speak our thoughts, without the interference of the government or other people to be able to do so.

Voltaire said,

“I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”

That pretty well covers my thoughts on it, as well.

It is important. It is what gives us the ability to speak out against things that we see the government doing wrong, corporations doing wrong, and other people doing wrong.

And because of that, of course, there have been many over the years taht have tried to get rid of it.

Why?

Because it destroys their bottom lines. That’s including everyone.

Any time you try to take away someones rights, no matter who they are, where they come from or what they stand for, you diminish us as a whole.

You destroy our species, one little chink at a time.

You chip away at it, just like a sculptor with his little chisel, breaking down a mountain, one piece at a time.

Why do I bring all of this up?

Well, any number of reasons would apply, wouldn’t they? We see our rights being chipped away every single day, and it’s important to be reminded of that fact often..

Mainly, though, it’s because of something I ran across and I felt it important enough to bring it forward to you guys out there.

Just in case you missed yet another attempt for people to take away our power.

So here goes…

Matthew Halleck vs. Stupidity

There’s a guy in Rochester, Minnesota, named Matthew Halleck.

Every day, he walks his children, 2 girls, to their school. He, of course, stops just shy of the school grounds, because they are “no Gun” zones, and he doesn’t want to break the law.

You see, he carries with him, at all times, a concealed handgun. And yes, he is permitted to carry it by law.

Every day, to and from school, there he is. Making sure that his girls make it there safely and without anyone causing them issues.

That’s a good thing, right? That’s what being a dad is all about. I know. I am one.

We do everything we can to make sure that our children are loved, safe and sound.

As I said, he stops just shy of these “gun free” zones, and watched as his girls enter the school.

He says about all of this, and I quote, “I’m going to protect my children anyway I can.”

But, this is an evil, evil, thing, apparently. At least, to some people.

He’s had the police called on him. They’ve checked him out and saw that he is just exercising his rights, under the Second Amendment, to carry a weapon with him, whenever he so desires, as long as no laws are being broken.

But, that’s apparently not enough for some people.

In comes Kimberly Edson.

Idiot Neighbor #1, er, I mean, Kimberly, has taken it upon herself to “warn everyone” that this man is carrying a weapon on him.

She has posted signs in her yard, which is nearby the school, with his picture on it, and the words, “This man carries a loaded gun around your children every day.”

Ohhh! It’s for the CHILDREN! Gah, do I really need to get started on THAT phrase again? Come on, people, wake up and smell the “toro caca.”

“Since we don’t have a way to stop him, we felt it was important to notify the neighborhood and the parents that there is an armed man in their presence,” said Kimberly Edson, a Rochester resident who put the sign up. “The first couple days of school he had it very visible, we saw it and were quite concerned,” she said.

I would like to warn the neighborhood that there is a village idiot in their presence, as well, but I digress.

She has apparently called the police to investigate the situation, but the police (for once) did the right thing and told her that he is just exercising his second amendment rights to carry the gun.

Matthew Halleck has apparently called them about the sign and they said that she was just expressing her first amendment rights.

“He has a 2nd Amendment right to carry the gun, I have my 1st Amendment right to say that I don’t like it,” said Edson.

So, first of all, I would like to pat this guy on the back (avoiding contact with the gun, of course) for protecting his children and standing up for his rights.

That is something that we all need a little more of.

He is simply doing what he feels is the right thing to do to ensure that his girls are safe and sound.

But this Kimberly Edson, I would not like to thank her. I would like to post a sign on her lawn saying that a person with no sense lives here. I would maybe even like to toss a sack of flaming doggie doo in her front porch area, but, i digress.

The problem here is this. Just like every other situation that has come up in the past, when one right is taken away from someone, WE ARE ALL IMPACTED.

And here we have an example of a very old tactic: Naming and shaming.

You see, what Kimberly is trying to do here is to inflame everyone around her to get them to stop him. To start a ob with pitchforks and torches to remove this “heinous example of humanity” from their presence and destroy the monstrosity that was created by Dr Frankenstein.

She is a perfect example of an inciter, those people you see in protest marches across the globe. The ones that will try to inflame the crowd, which stood perfectly peaceful, into violence and chaos.

She’s just using a sign on her lawn to do it, instead of a bullhorn.

Or, in the case of the American Government, CIA operatives that buy off people to do it.

But, again, I digress.

People at protests that do that sort of thing are usually quickly removed by police or the rest of the crowd, so that things do not escalate out of control. It’s something that has been done at protests across the globe.

It’s done to keep people calmer, safer, more organized.

Yet, we don’t see that happening here. We see a woman with a sign in her yard, and no one else is standing up to her and removing her from the crowd.

Or, in this case, removing the sign.

But there’s a bigger problem here than just that.

Do you see what tactic she is also trying to do?

She, and many others out there that are protesting the guns, wanting the second amendment removed so that no one can have a gun, they are using their first amendment rights to say so.

That’s fine and dandy. Good for them.

However, do they not realize that if the second amendment rights are removed, the first amendment rights are quickly to follow?

What do you think holds them back from doing so right now?

That’s right. The fact that so many Americans out there have guns.

For those of you wanting to take away our second amendment rights to carry firearms, remember, they can just as easily remove your first amendment right to say it.

And don’t you dare think they won’t.

A Case In Point

This reminds me so much of a situation that I KNEW would end up happening some time ago.

A few years ago, there was a lot of arguments about smoking bans, with entire states trying to ban public smoking in every way.

Oh, it was vile, some of the things that were said by those wanting these in place.

So, they went for the higher tax rates, first.

You see, sin taxes are a big part of the income by the state, in this case both the state states and the federal government.

“It will make them quit!” they screamed. As if that would actually stop people, btu they sure did scream that.

It’s for everyone’s benefit. Smoking is evil. Smoking is bad. It’s disgusting. It’s affecting everyone!

I said then, as I say now, when you infringe on anyone’s rights to do something, you impact all of us. You know what happened after they levied yet more taxes and placed bans upon the evil, evil smokers?

Just what I said would happen, back then. I called it years ago.

They are going for the sugars next.

Sad thing is, they are using the same words. “It’s for everyone’s benefit!”

I told people that as soon as they could get people on board a train like that, about the “benefit to the public” or “for the children” that they would go for sugar next. Why? Because it’s BIG FREAKING TIME BUSINESS.

It’s a multi-billion dollar industry (it may even be in the trillions, now, worldwide).

Don’t think for one moment that the governments do not want a slice of that pie.

But the fact is, just like tobacco products, people using them is a choice. It’s a choice of lifestyle, of freedom, of your right to decide what you want to do.

And you, the ones sitting out there screaming that it needs to be done, just know that they will be coming for you next.

Got something in your life you like? Is it in any way unhealthy, or “bad for you” or, even, freaking pleasurable?

Better believe they are coming for you next.

Especially now that Obama-care is in place. There are regulations in there that make it ESSENTIAL for them to do so.

Back To The Issue…

But, you see, these things are no different than the gun issue. It’s not “for pleasure” that people have guns. It’s not for sport that people have guns.

Yes, those things are reasons to have them, for some, perhaps, but the guns are there, in the hands of the people, to defend our rights, INCLUDING your right to say the stupid things you do.

They’re coming for your thoughts in the very near future.

Check out this article from the Mail Online.

“WE KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING! Researchers reveal mind-reading device that can monitor short term memory in real time.”

Sure, they SAY it will be used to help treat memory disorders. But there are still some very dark freaking people out there that will use a device like this to throw us right into Minority Report.

These things are real, people, and they are being used to chip away at the rights of all of us. Chip. Chip. Chip.  One little rock at a time.

Just look at Kimberly Edson for a perfect example.

I bet she would be on the front lines of putting the shackles on people as they board the trains.

If not, it’s at least people that have that mind set.

You can NOT let things like this happen. You can NOT let things like this go on, because the more they do, the more these things will drive us into submission.

The Window Of Opportunity

We have a window, folks.  A window of opportunity to step away from the darkness that surrounds us and into the light of a better future.

We can grasp the arm that has us in a stranglehold, and push them away from us. Make them step back on the defense for a moment.

We HAVE to. Look at the situation we are in.

We are in debt, up to our GRAND-CHILDREN’S time.

We have raising rates of autism, epilepsy, cancer, diabetes, and other horrifying genetic disorders that are just “cropping up” our of nowhere.

We have hundreds of thousands of people living on the streets in filth and hunger, when there are millions of empty homes sitting there, vacant, begging to be used. And yet, laws are being passed to make homelessness “Illegal”.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida just put into motion the law that it is now illegal to feed someone that is homeless!

LIke they are god damn dogs. “Don’t feed the stray! It will come back again!”

Ugh. You humans are so confusing! You say you want to do things because it’s “for the children” or “for the benefit of everyone!”

Yet, you stand still while they take away one right after another. One thing after another.
Chip, chip chip!

How long will it be before they outlaw being fat?

How long will it be before they outlaw “being different”? How long will it be before you finally STAND UP and DO something besides sitting on your fat ass and eating Cheetos while watching football, baseball Honey Boo Boo or the biggest loser?

YOU are the biggest loser! You have already freaking LOST!

You’ve got to do something. While you don’t, they are.

They are working hard, every moment of every day, to make sure that we all lose in the end.

Maybe you’ll “get it” before it’s too late.

I sure hope so. For all of our sakes.

Oh, and as far as Kimberly Edson is concerned?

My challenge

As far as Kimberly Edson and people like her are concerned, I bet they would not have the guts to put a similar sign in their yard with a gang banger’s face on it, saying this guy has a gun. That sign, and her, would be gone pretty quickly.

How about it Kimberly? How about it, anyone that thinks like her? Would you put out a sign saying, “This guy is a drug dealer,” or “this politician is robbing us blind,” or even, “Here’s some pictures of known speeders through this neighborhood.”

Nope. You won’t do something like that. That would be the right people to name and shame. That would be a good use of your time, resources, and right to free speech.

Instead, you name and shame people that are exercising their rights. You know, just like you are.

I bet that Matthew Halleck would be one of the first in line to repeat Voltaire’s words to her, when someone comes for her. “I do not agree with what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it.”

We need a lot more like that, I am telling you.

Oh, and as for the neighborhood there? If I lived there, I would feel a whole lot safer with him around. I would ask him if he could walk my kids to school, too.

And I would put a sign on my lawn, saying, “This house is protected by a gun. The house over there is not. You choose.”

Hey, it’s just me expressing my right to free speech, right?
