The following are the show notes used for this episode for future reference.
Why do we need rules?
We need to learn a set of rules when we are young, as a basis for us to learn ethical behavior.
We are also still learning about ourselves and the world that surrounds us.
Do all rules apply to everyone?
Not always. There are those that think there should be separate rules for those in power and control, and those that are poor.
Religions have their own sets of rules, as well.
The Ten Commandments are a good example.
The problems with rules are…
There’s a difference between ethics and morals. Here I give a great example of the differences between the two by telling a story.
Some people think that they are above the rules.
There are TOO MANY rules.
There are approx 300 laws enacted every year in the US. That’s not counting regulations!
We are responsible to know them ALL!
“Authority” is not law.
The 3 Simple Rules
1. We have free will to do anything we want.
2. Do not do anything to interfere with the free will of someone else.
3. Always take responsibility for your actions.
These simple rules cover everything possible.
